The Tom Schultz Rockman Distortion\Sustainer

One of my earliest pieces of gear was the Tom Schultz Rockman Distortion\Sustainer (Pictured below).

The Tom Schultz Rockman Distortion\Sustainer

What I liked about this unit was that it not only captured the Boston sound, but with some minor tweaking, could emulate several different "Marshall on Eleven" sounds that were popular in the late 70's to early 80's. At the time I couldn't afford a real Marshall, so this was as close as I could come through my Peavy Bandit 65 (I'll post on that amp later).

Having a built in Noise Gate, 2 different clean and dirty sounds, totally foot switchable, made this one of my all time favorite pieces of equipment. I still have one of these along with it's matching Rockman EQ (I'll post on that one later as well).

I eventually moved up to real Marshalls, but in a pinch for recording, grabbing this half-rack unit and plugging it into a board has been a real time saver. Kudos to Tom Schultz for packing his sound into such a tiny package!
